Weekly Bests 2019.2

Happy Sunday! My weekly bests are a little late this time round, because it was a fairly tough week to get through. We were short-staffed at work and a migraine took me down midway through. There were still some highlights though!

Cocktails, Buck a Shuck Oysters, and Good Conversation

I met up with one of my girlfriends midweek for after work cocktails and snacks. I always, always look forward to these dates :) I say it a lot, but I am so lucky to be surrounded by the best support system of incredible women! We went to East 36 to take advantage of their Wednesday Happy Hour - $9 cocktails and buck a shuck oysters. Yes!!

The Witch Elm

I finished my second book of the year – The Witch Elm by Tana French. I discovered Tana French last year, and absolutely love her books. She’s a great crime fiction author, and builds suspense in her stories in the most perfect way. The Witch Elm was a slower burn than her previous books, but I really enjoyed it. Reading certain parts actually made my heart beat faster and palms sweaty, and I stayed up late last night to finish it. There’s nothing like a good Saturday night in with a book ~insert nerd emoji here~

Wedding Tasting

I also made strides with my wedding planning this week! I booked a couple more vendors, and had my wedding tasting with Azim and our parents. It was so nice to spend time with both sets of parents, and I’m really glad they’re excited to be involved in the planning. Our waiter let us go home with the table centerpieces, and our little bouquet has been brightening up the kitchen during this snowmageddon.

Lipstick of the Week

Ok, I really brought it this week with a bold red lip. I’ve finally found a red that I’m not scared to wear – normally, wearing a red lip involves a lot of maintenance, like checking the liner isn’t running, and it’s not starting to wear off, and it isn’t on any teeth. Not with the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment!!I really have to thank my friend Laura for finding this revolutionary liquid lipstick. She gave me a beautiful chestnut rose shade (American Woman), which works for every occasion and stays put. I figured the formula must be just as perfect in the bolder shades and picked up this true blue red (Starwoman). Yes, it is perfect. The applicator is slim and ensures a perfect edge. The formula dries down quickly but doesn’t settle into lines in a drying way. And it lasts. And lasts. And lasts. I wore this lipstick through a five-course meal and did not need to touch up once. A red lipstick miracle!I’m also a fan of the NARS Audacious lipsticks (Favourite shade: Barbara), and Matte and Satin Velvet Lip Pencils (Favourite shade: Cruella, Rikugien, and Yu).Thanks for reading and have a great week ahead! xoxox
